William Villalon, a CEO Advisor with LogCapStrat, has over 3 decades of experience in the global logistics industry, with particular expertise in asset-based rail and ocean transportation, as well as extensive 3PL experience in the Automotive and Retail sectors. His experience likewise reflects in-depth knowledge of warehousing and surface transportation.

From 2017 until his retirement in January 2022, Mr. Villalon served as President, APL Logistics (APLL), a global 3PL with $1.8 billion in annual sales and 6000 employees based in Scottsdale AZ.  APLL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kintetsu World Express of Tokyo, Japan. During his 5-year tenure as President,  APLL EBITDA was tripled.

Mr. Villalon lived for several years in Asia (Singapore and Bangkok) and served on JV Boards in China, India and Japan. His rail career started with Southern Pacific Railroad (subsequently acquired by Union Pacific Railroad). Prior to relocating  to Asia with APL Liner, he headed APL Stacktrain Services, the precursor of Pacer International and subsequently XPO rail services. His total career with APL Liner and APL Logistics spanned some 37 years.

Mr. Villalon's unique experience allows him to take the perceptive of the CEO and integrate financial, marketing, pricing, and procurement perspectives when addressing client's needs.

Mr. Villalon holds a BA in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA in Finance from the Haas School at UC Berkeley. He serves on the Faculty of the Supply Chain Management Department at Arizona State University’s W P Carey School.
